How to Play Black Jack Rogue-light
This is a unique blend of Black Jack and a Rogue-light game!
Basic Black Jack Rules:
- Try to get a hand value as close to 21 as possible without going over.
- Face cards (J, Q, K) are worth 10. Aces (A) are worth 1 or 11.
- "Hit" to draw another card. "Stand" to keep your current hand.
- The Dealer must hit until their hand is 17 or higher.
- If you go over 21, you "Bust" and lose.
- If you have Black Jack (21 with two cards), you win instantly.
Rogue-lite Elements:
In this game, your goal is to achieve the highest possible score across multiple "runs". Each run starts with a base amount of money and a random Joker. Your progress is saved and affects future runs!
- Money System: You start with a certain amount of money ($50 base). Winning a round doubles your bet, while losing makes you lose your bet. If your money drops to $0 or below, your current run ends.
- Wins: Each round you win adds to your "Wins" counter for the current run.
- Jokers: After each win, you receive a random "Joker" that can be used strategically to influence the game. You have 5 Joker slots. You can also buy specific Jokers from the Joker Shop!
- Meta-Progression: Your starting money for future runs increases based on your total accumulated wins across all previous runs. For every 5 total wins, your base starting money for the next run increases by $20!
- Highscore: Your final score for a run is calculated as **Wins of the Run × Highest Money Reached in that Run**. This encourages both winning rounds and managing your money effectively.
Joker Shop:
Between rounds, you can visit the Joker Shop to spend your money on powerful advantages. The shop offers a rotating selection of Jokers for purchase, allowing you to strategically build your inventory and adapt your playstyle.
Jokers:
- Value Adjustment Jokers (+/-X): Change your hand's value by X.
- Single Card Exchange: Discard one card and draw a new one.
- Hand Reset: Discard all your cards and draw two new ones.
- Lucky Draw: Choose the value of the next card you draw (2-10, J, Q, K, A).
- Hand Insurance: If you bust in the current round, you only lose half of your bet.
- Dealer's Folly: Forces the dealer to stand on their current hand, regardless of value.
- Split Joker (WIP): Allows splitting your hand.
- Double Down Joker (WIP): Allows doubling your bet and drawing one more card.
Good luck and have fun!
